Previous Institutional Plans

Created collaboratively by members of the RISD community and published in 2019, NEXT: RISD 2020–2027 presented an ambitious vision for addressing issues of social and environmental justice through pedagogic and institutional innovation. Among the core commitments outlined in the plan are actions and initiatives that will contribute to just societies, sustainability and new ways of making and knowing.

Launched in 2017, RISD’s first social equity and inclusion action plan provides the foundation upon which we ground our efforts to enhance equity and inclusion throughout our community.

Published in 2018, RISD’s Institutional Master Plan built on the 2015 Campus Master Plan to provide a stewardship framework for institutional spaces—addressing present needs while informing future decision making. It was designed to persist through future changes in leadership, economic variability, and pedagogical and technological advances.
